Telecom provider Zayo acquires Education Networks of America
Zayo Holdings Group today announced the acquisition Educational Networks of Americaas the combined company aims to expand to provide managed network connectivity, communications, cloud technology and cybersecurity services to more K-12 school districts participating in the federal E-Rate program, according to a statement Press.
Including ENA customers, Zayo’s K-12 customer base now includes approximately 1,150 districts in Tennessee, Indiana, Georgia, Maryland, Florida, Washington, Colorado, Oregon , California and Arizona, the company said. Zayo began serving K-12 districts about six years ago; the company’s wholly-owned Tier 1 IP backbone, which spans 134,000 miles across North America and Europe, also serves customers in the healthcare, government and library sectors.
ENA was previously owned by ZMC, an operator of media, communications and entertainment companies. Earlier this year, Zayo acquired QOS Networks, named Lisa Hook to its board of directors, and rolled out its “largest ever organic network expansion,” the company said.
