(Matrox Video: Montreal) — As a large European construction services company, Netherlands-based VolkerWessels is responsible for thousands of grid-related items. The VolkerWessels Telecom division designs, builds and maintains fixed and wireless telecommunications networks, and provides connectivity for services ranging from sustainable energy to smart waste bins.

Challenge

Prior to acquiring its Matrox-powered video wall, VolkerWessels Telecom’s network operations center (NOC) staff used several different screens of varying sizes connected to several different PCs. What the NOC staff needed was a single video wall that would allow for optimized resource sharing and centralized control.

After consulting AV distributor Sahara Benelux and AV system integrator Ricoh, VolkerWessels Telecom decided that Matrox QuadHead2Go multi-monitor controllers and the Matrox validated Advantech AVS-540 controlled by VView Classic video wall software would be the solution. ideal for creating a dynamic and easy-to-use environment. use the video wall system for NOC staff.

Solution

VolkerWessels Telecom NOC staff now use a 6×2 curved video wall of 47-inch screens installed in front of five operator desks. The video wall is driven by a combination of three Matrox QuadHead2Go appliances, along with an Advantech AVS-540 chassis powered by Matrox Mura IPX IP capture and decoding and D-Series graphics cards. Displayed in pristine image quality, video wall content comes from direct video uploads from staff desktops, HTML5, third-party applications, and physical inputs such as network computers and whiteboards on board.

A centralized deployment of VView Classic software on Windows PCs allows users to securely access and manage video wall content directly from a browser. Additionally, staff can also access the same video wall management software through the VView app installed on iPads.

To provide future-proof connectivity to its customers, VolkerWessels Telecom relies on intuitive Matrox video wall technology and VView software in its Network Operations Center (NOC).
